Dr. Ju-Chang (Howard) Huang (黃汝常) passed away in Hong Kong on January 16, 2018.
Dr. Huang was born in Taiwan, received his bachelor degree from the National Taiwan University, and a doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Huang was one of the founders of OCEESA. He was the OCEESA Vice President in 1980 and the OCEESA President in 1981.
黄汝常于1963年毕业台湾大学,1967年在德克萨斯—奥斯汀大学获得博士学位,1975年获升正教授,并于1979年任密苏里大学环境工程主任及环境研究所所长,一直到退休。黄汝常教授为美国工程院院士,世界排名第一学术刊物“水研究”编委,是美国土木工程学会最资深会员,中国给排水刊物编委,中国环境科学学报编委。
He was a professor emeritus at the both University of Missouri-Rolla (now renamed as Missouri University of Science and Technology) and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His expertise was in innovative water and wastewater treatment processes and was a senior consultant for numerous government agencies and companies for more than 30 years.
His rich experiences were a precious treasure to the environmental engineering, and he was always generously providing his profound insights to the meetings of the Mainland and Taiwan Environmental Protection Conference (MTEPC) and organizational management of the OCEESA.
He will be remembered by his friends and the OCEESA.
